Matrix Booking’s updated mobile app improves conformance to WCAG 2.2 level AA

Matrix Booking has today released its updated mobile app, available on both Apple and Google Play stores.

We’ve updated our mobile app to improve its conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA. From October 2024, all UK Government websites and apps will be monitored to this standard. This includes all third-party services and suppliers, and we’re a key Software as a Service (SaaS) provider to the public sector.

Although the look and feel of the new is largely the same, there are some visual and functional differences. A wide range of people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments, can use our mobile app with ease. Our updates will enhance your user experience.

The new mobile app features the following updates:

  • New sign-in screen for logging in manually or via single sign-on (SSO).
  • Updated design for the password reset.
  • Updated home screen design to make it easier to use.
  • Colour-coded resources for ease of booking.
  • Clear check-in button and reminders (if required).
  • Quick view of booked resources shown on a floor plan.
  • Improved search functionality to help users find resources and colleagues easily.
  • Map or list views of resources.
  • Book resources on behalf of colleagues.
  • Where team priority bookings are applied, the app automatically zooms in on available resources.
  • Visitor arrival push notifications for meeting hosts.

The below table shows a summary of the new features and benefits of this latest version:

Paul Scott, CTO, Matrix Booking said: “I’m delighted to announce the launch of our updated mobile app. Our team have been working closely with the Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC), giving us greater insight with their extensive knowledge and expertise in digital accessibility. The updated mobile app is designed to increase productivity, and change the way workspaces are booked and managed. We hope that our customers will reap the benefits of improved usability and accessibility to our mobile app.”
